Nestled between Cleveland National Forest and the historic town of San Juan Capistrano, Rancho Mission Viejo is a unique community built on a ranch and farm. The historical ranch’s history can be traced back to 1845 and many remnants of the original ranch still remain. Today, Rancho Mission Viejo is home to over 38,000 residents and consists of four master-planned communities. The average elevation for the area is 410 feet.
Students in Rancho Mission Viejo attend the award-winning schools in Capistrano Unified School District including San Juan Hills High School. The ranch community encourages a charming, small town feel with numerous neighborhood hubs made for meeting up and relaxing with neighbors, friends, and family. Each neighborhood includes a community clubhouse that offers indoor and outdoor spaces for events, classes, and BBQs. Outside the ranch, residents enjoy the local Sendero Marketplace, a shopping center with staples like Starbucks and IN-N-Out, as well as locally owned Scarlet Kitchen and Morena’s Mexican Cuisine.
The community is most known for its 20,000-acre nature reserve, The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo. The reserve is home to a historic cattle ranch, hiking trails, and wide-open scenic views. Residents of the community also enjoy the many parks and outdoor spaces available, like The Backyard, a large linear park with unique playground, a zip line, and communal picnic spaces.
